I'm BaaaAAAAaaaacccccKKKKKK!!!!!
langkawi was awesome, despite the hot-enough-to-fry-egg-on-sand weather. The beaches were fantastic though not as great as those u would see in the web or on postcards. the food was nice but nothing out of the ordinary. it was really a bummer( the food) cos it was not up to expectations. the costs though are WAAAAAAYYYY too high. can u believe it. RM26+ for a steak and RM 4 for fried noodles? a can of sprite is RM2.50, RM3 for one that is chilled.
souvenirs were NOT cheap so those of u who received anything at all had better count u'r lucky stars i actually did not forget on purpose after i saw the price(y) tags.
my Butt really hurts after sitting on the bus for 14 freakin hours.
no. of vacations had so far (not counting Sentosa,Malacca with relatives and Pasir Ris): 2 (Jakarta and langkawi) + 1 (when ended up in Penang as had gotten lost on way to langkawi)+3(Batam and Tioman Island)
no. of vacations had so far in which we hadn't gotten lost: 0
no. of vacations actually enjoyed:3
no. of vacations where we got to go whr i wanted to go: 1 (i suggested one of the Batam trips)
the coolest thing happened when we went island hopping at langkawi( can still hear tour guide saying how langkawi is made up of 105 islands). our speedboat stopped at an inlet that was still connected to the ocean and the driver actually threw out chicken parts out side the boats. a few secs later, eagles began swooping down and began (catching?) the bait. The were majestic animals, lords of the skies, the very symbols of freedom. there were three main species of eagles there. the largest were grey with white heads. u could actually see and
feel their strength. another species we saw was red in colour with white heads ("Malboro eagles", said the guide, reminiscent of the eagles seen in native american films) and the last species, the prettiest by far, were those with red feathers, white heads and black wing tips. according to our guide( whose name i didn't bother catching or if i did, didn't bother remembering) there were 110 eagles on that island alone. all on the boat stard open mouthed at the 80 or so birds diving and swooping.
another really cool aspect of the island was The Curse Of Mahsuri. That.......is another entry.
