Anyone here remember a movie entitled Pass It On? Starring Haley Joel Osmond and Helen Hunt? That movie had a very important message and I have just kicked myself for not heeding it. Our world is in lots of trouble. We all know it. The environment, wars and conflicts, materialism, little green men with lazer guns..... we all know it. But what are we doing about it? Chances are, not much. We go to school, we go out, we study. But we can do something and here it is. You may have heard of it, read of it, watched a movie based on it. Now, be a PART of it.CHALLENGE: MAKE A DIFFERENCE!I issue a personal challenge to all here to pass on an act of kindness. It can be for a friend, a family member, a pet, a neighbour or even a complete stranger you've just met. The act need not be an overly generous act. It can be as simple as smiling at a complete stranger just passing by, it can be buying a treat for your little sister, it can be leaving a ten cent coin in a public phone so that the next person can use it for free, leaving a post-it note with a nice comment inside a library book or even just donating loose change to a student doing his CIP hours(and being glad to do so, and offer some encouragement or two).I challenge you to do it within one week of reading this message and to continue doing it after that any time you feel like it or whenever you get the chance. Compliment your mother's clothes(of course, do it when she does look nice), switch places with a person at the back of a queue, drop loose change at a playground where children can find it. These are the small things that can brighten up someone's day.And lastly, I ask all of you to pass on this message. You can choose to do it verbally, you can choose to email all on your contact list this message, you can paste a notice on a notice board, an internet forum, or even just cut and paste this into your blog. I hope that together, we can really make a difference in this world. It might not be a big one. But remember that for someone out there, someone sad or tired or lonely, it may just be enough. I'll admit right now, I'm only doing this after watching this video on Youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVY5IpSDUYEYes, I am still clueless as to how to put the actual video in my blog.
Oh, and do tag me to respond, tell me if you are planning to spread the message or do an act of kindness or even tell me a kind act you did after reading the post. I'll be very happy. Just tell me anything, really.
still the same.|
